What this site is, and what it does not claim to do.
About
Bevel Gear Generator is an independent engineering tool, built and run by
one engineer. It is not affiliated with any gear manufacturer or software
vendor, nothing on it is sponsored or advertised, and it is free to use.
The thing to trust here is not the author — it is the sources. Every
figure in the dimension table names the standard clause or the formula it
came from, so you can check it against
ISO 23509 (tooth depths and blank geometry),
ISO 53 (basic rack profile) and
JIS B 1705 (backlash) rather than taking it on
faith. Where a value is your input rather than a derivation, the table says
that too.
Questions, corrections and bug reports are welcome, and a reported wrong
number is more useful than a compliment:

What it does not do
Stated plainly, because a tool that hides its limits is the one to worry
about.
- Straight bevel gears only. Spiral, Zerol and hypoid
pairs are not generated.
- Geometry, not strength. There is no load capacity
rating — ISO 10300 or otherwise. Nothing here tells you
whether the pair survives your torque.
- The 2D drawings are back cone developments. A sphere
cannot be flattened without distortion; the development preserves arc
length and is exact at the pitch cone, approximate away from it. The
solid model never uses it — it is a drawing aid.
- The STEP file is a geometric model of the flank under
the model you choose (octoid, as a generating machine cuts it, or the
exact spherical involute). Machine settings, tooling beyond the cutter
tip radius, tolerances beyond the backlash allowance, and anything about
material or heat treatment are not modelled.
- It is a starting point for a drawing, not a manufacturing
release. Check the numbers before anyone cuts metal.
